Tracking "Time on Task"

Post by jcp »

One feature we are interested in is the capability to track "time on task", for example actual time it took to fix defect or time it took to perform QA.

Using time stamps created at the time process flow status changes as a results of user created events (i.e. accept state to resolve state) may not represent the actual time a person spent on the task (i.e. fixing the defect).

So my question is ... can a customizable field be created to allow a user to enter the actual time spent (hours) on a specific part of the task (i.e. fix, QA, etc) be implemented? If so, would there be a way to tabulate and display the results in a summary type format?

Thanx in advance ...

Have you tried to create a custom field called "Time on Task"

Not having tried this myself, I can't comment on how easy it would be to create a report in the format you would wish. You may have to play with the data type (enumeration, numeric, etc) to achieve exactly what you want.
